BHS Choir Special Recognition

Sophomore Sandy Twardzik, alto received a II: Excellent rating in class C for her performance of Danny Boy at the Ohio Music Educators Association annual Solo and Ensemble contest. Junior Jordan Lawhorn also received a II: Excellent rating in class A for his performance of My Lady Walks in Loveliness.

Students from all over the state of Ohio auditioned for the Ohio University Honors Choir under the direction of Dr. Peter Jarjisian. Two Brookside Choir students, Juniors Samantha Reedy, soprano and Jordan Lawhorn, tenor were selected and performed with their peers in Athens, OH on January 11, 2009. Congratulations Jordan, Samantha and Sandy on your accomplishments!

Goodbye Summer, Hello Academia!

Welcome back everyone! We're going to have another productive and fun year! We have some new changes, especially at BHS. With the help of fundraising efforts and the Board of Education, we have BRAND NEW CHOIR ROBES for the BHS Concert Choir. In addition, the school district has added a "show choir" at BHS. This will be an auditioned group that meets after school for rehearsal. We will tour around the area, perform at regular concerts and special events, and perform jazz and pop classics as well as current favorites. Information about auditions will be posted in the next couple of weeks!! If you're checking out the blog, hopefully you noticed all the concert dates on my main page. If not, go back and take a look, and while you're there, you can open the class syllabus for your choir and see what we'll be doing for the year. You'll get a hard copy of you syllabus the first day of school (unless you're a freshman, you'll get it day 2).

This year, I plan on utilizing the blog more often for special events, pictures from concerts, occasional opinion polls, as well as extra-credit opportunities for general music and maybe choir. I may even ask you to post responses to homework and lessons in the comment section of the blog. Who knows? You could stumble upon some "surprise" posts that I won't tell you about... you'll just have to come back regularly to see!
